I have a 95 LS400 and both remotes have gone bad. I replaced
batteries but didn’t work. If the button is held down it will eventually
lock/unlock.
Anyone have any suggestions???

for a bargain on Lexol
Before we take our RX300 on it’s first long roadtrip, I was thinking of
getting a front end cover. The Lexus dealer suggested we go with the bug
deflector, because it’s cheaper, and doesn’t harm the paint like a front end
cover. Anyone have any experience with either?
The bug deflector is $120 and the front end cover goes for around $200.
Thanks for any suggestions!

v
Early last December, our two cars (a 97 Maxima SE and a 96 Rodeo) were
coming down to the last 90 days of their leases. On Dec. 9, my wife and I
went in to Brown & Brown Nissan in Tempe, AZ to "trade" them in. Before
going in, we had picked out a Pathfinder SE to replace the Rodeo and another
Maxima SE to replace our ’97 model. Nissan Leasing had been sending us
offers to do another lease with zero upfront costs (security deposit, etc)
and to waive "excess damage" costs up to $500.
Because we didn’t want to get hit with two sets of license plate fees each
year in the same month (pretty stiff in Arizona…over $400 a year), we
elected to delay delivery on the second vehicle for a couple months. We
chose to exchange the 97 Maxima for the Pathfinder and then pick up the new
Maxima for the 96 Rodeo in March. We were emphatic that with Christmas
coming up, we wanted to roll the old lease into the new one so that we would
have zero cash out. We worked up our deal based on a monthly lease cost for
the two new vehicles. We took delivery on the Pathfinder and everything
seemed outstanding (except for the usual adjustments on a new vehicle).
Well, the pleasure was short lived. Two weeks after taking delivery, we got
a letter from Nissan Leasing demanding some $1500 for various lease end
costs, less our $450 Security Deposit. They had "forgotten" their offer of
waiving damages. Moreover, there was $1225 for lease termination costs.
These costs were SUPPOSED to be rolled into the new monthly lease costs,
quite a common procedure, ("Hey, your lease isn’t over? No problem, we’ll
roll in into a new one.").
I contacted Brown and Brown Nissan and left messages (you can never get
these people directly) for the salesman and finance office to inquire why
these costs were NOT handled as we had agreed, how the contract was
abrogated. The calls were not returned, I called again some days later, this
time to arrange some adjustment services (mushy brakes, a transmission that
surged when put in gear, horrific gas mileage). He did not return the calls.
All this time, the most glaring problem was the brakes. It took a hell of a
lot of pressure on the brake pedal to get the Pathfinder to slow and stop
from more than about 30-40 MPH.
Finally fed up, I called the General manager of Brown & Brown, and demanded
he correct the lease problems as I was still getting letters from Nissan
Leasing. Of course, they say that such problems are the dealers concern. The
GM said he would correct the leasing issue but I should contact the salesman
again to arrange service for the brakes, transmission and gas Mileage
issues. Some three weeks later, I received a check from Brown & Brown for
the lease cost difference, but it was for the net amount, meaning they
decided to keep my security deposit for themselves.
Well, the problems were only beginning. On February 9th., the brakes
"mushed" so badly, I hit a vehicle from the rear. This was after being some
200 feet back at less than 40MPH. The impact was at about 2 or 3 MPH. This
slight impact resulted in some $5500 in damages.
"Okay, my insurance is paid up…no problem", I thought; Wrong. Nissan
manufactures the Pathfinder in Japan and the parts distribution channel, six
months into model year, has not caught on yet. The Pathfinder sat at the
body shop, waiting for a part, for SIX WEEKS.
I contacted Nissan North America to report the brakes issue and demand they
get their parts channel in gear–no such luck. In addition to long hold
times, while one CSR was very helpful, the rest were rude, ambivalent and
spent a lot of time "buck passing", "That’s a dealer problem", "That’s a
leasing problem", "That’s Manufacturing’s problem that parts are six weeks
on backorder".
Finally, on March 21, some six and a half weeks after the accident, Nissan
managed to get the part to the body shop. They also managed to send a tech
rep to inspect the vehicle. He said the transmission was "Normal", though
shifting into Reverse still lurches so hard it hurts my back. He tested the
vehicles fuel economy, getting 18MPG overall with 60 miles of highway
driving. This was far better than the 12-14MPG I was getting. He refilled
the gas tank after driving it 87 miles, putting in 4.7 gallons. I drove off
the lot and put 1.4 gallons in the tank. That totals 6.1 gallons, or 14.2
MPG.
The brake issue was interesting. He reported them as "working according to
specs". Well, that’s fine, but they still take over 100 lbs of pressure to
get good braking effect and even more to engage the anti-lock mechanism. My
wife’s legs are not that strong. Edmunds auto reports indicate the
Pathfinder’s brakes are "mushy" in the 2001 model. That’ is an
understatement.
The accelerator is very touchy, and the brake pedal provides no tactile
feedback. This is not a good balance. I filed a safety report with the NHTSA
and their investigation is in progress.
Still, I paid two lease payments on a vehicle sitting dormant at a body shop
because Nissan has not produced and supplied a proper parts channel. I
wonder if they’ would wait six weeks for my next lease payment. Well, no! My
March payment was one day late and they sent nasty-grams via mail.
Oh, by the way; I still have not heard from the salesman at Brown & Brown,
nor anyone else. I did want to let them know that the second part of the
deal, for the Maxima was off and there was no way in hell I’d ever do
business with Nissan again. Nissan NA also seems uninterested. Evidently,
they got one sale and there are a few million more "suckers" out there
anyway.
I have a 2000 ES300 hit in the front. Needing any parts for the front end.
Already purchased the rad. & cond. Need hood, pass. Fender, grill,
headlights, bumper, etc… (anything from the front end.
Also both airbags. Ivory or any other color.
Hi I am in the UK and thinking of getting an IS200 can anyone give me any
feedback on the car and also which one is the better model the auto or the
manual (I know its proberly individual preference but).
Thanks,
PC
Ive read the same, get a 93′. They did a lot of changes on the car in that
year. 90-92 should still be fine, just try to get a 93′.

I have a 93′ LS 400 that is coming up on the 55,000 mile service and was
wondering what all is done and about how much it runs. The 55,000 is not a
typo. I bought it used from someone who didn’t drive it much at all.

I heard there are a lot of changes for 95′ from 94′, get the 95′. I am
unsure of them all but they did do quite a bit, for starters engine puts out
more HP, 10 more. Little bit of body difference. I will see if I can find
some more info for you.
