Report: Next Lexus IS to gain Euro-friendly wagon body style
Although Toyota’s Lexus luxury brand is now sold in a number of world markets, the up-scale brand is still largely tailored to American tastes. However, with Lexus now looking to expand its presence in Europe, the Japanese automaker is reportedly taking a more worldly approach to its next-generation IS line. Lexus designed the current IS [...]

Scheduled Maintenance question
I drive my IS 250 way below average because I use public transportation
for my work commute. Lexus recommends a check up based on mileage or
months – whichever comes first. If you don’t drive the car as much, do
you think it’s important to get service based on months driven? For
example, my next scheduled maintenance should be the 12 months or
10,000 miles. Right now, I’m at 6k miles but at 18 months. No signs of
any problems….mostly city driving.
Toyota weighs Corolla engine stalling fix that puts drivers in danger
Last November, NHTSA opened an investigation into the 2006 Toyota
Corolla and Matrix with the 1ZZ-FE engine after receiving 26
complaints alleging engine stall. Some of the stalls took place on
highways or intersections — a situation that could pose a safety
hazard. NHTSA has since received another 30 complaints on the issue

Single Event Upsets: Cosmic radiation makes Toyota computers go haywire?
Electronics makers have known for decades about "single event upsets,"
computer errors from radiation created when cosmic rays strike the
atmosphere.
With more than 3,000 complaints to U.S. regulators of random sudden
acceleration problems in Toyota models, several researchers say single
event upsets deserve a close look.
The phenomenon can trigger software crashes that come and go without a
trace. Unlike interference from radio waves, there’s no way to
physically block particles; such errors typically have to be prevented
by a combination of software and hardware design."
And an anonymous tipster told NHTSA last month that "the automotive
industry has yet to truly anticipate SEUs."

Shifting with stuck accelerator
So…..IF the accelerator gets stuck, and you step on the brakes, and you
can’t get the car to slow down or stop….
Is there any reason that the shift lever couldn’t be moved to neutral? The
car might go over redline, but that’s better than some of the alternatives.
I thought the recent runaway 911 caller said that he couldn’t shift to
neutral. Panic?
