There is a 1/2 inch difference between the top of the wheel rim and
the car panel on the left and right hand wheels, is this an something
to do with wheel alignment or suspension?

Used RX300 Prices
Dealer used prices on the window are way high.
I’ve been looking at used prices and it seems to me the dealers should
be happy to sell a 2WD model with the premium package for the
following:
2004 New MSRP 39,452 sell 38,452 (invoice 35,071)
2003 New MSRP 40,300 sell 34,500 (incl. 1,500 incentive) norm 36,000
2003 Used 32,500
2002 30,000
2001 27,000
2000 24,000
1999 21,000
All with normal milage.
The prices drop all the time, about:
250 a month
750 a quarter (3 mo.)
3000 a year.
The longer on the lot, the lower the price. I see special ads for
certified 2000 models for as little as 23,999. They usually start
about 27,000 on the window. This is with normal miles, 38,000 for
2000.
how can you tell if rx300 has the limited slip?
I bought a used AWD gret shape 27000m all the options it seems. How can you
tell if it is a LSD by looking at it or is it listed as part of the VIN( I
believe this is the case with my supra) David
2000 RX-300 (2 wheel drive) mileage
Hello Everyone:
Since we got the car in July 2000, it has given us decent mileage,
however, it has been
going down gradually. We got about 21.5 mpg in the first six months and
now it is down
to 20.1 mpg. The car now has 26K miles.
Is this normal ? Is there anything I can do to keep up the mileage.
We have done 5K and 10K maintenance and since then I have been changing
oil (3-5K miles)
and rotating tires (6-8K miles). It is mainly used as a soccer-mom
car. Note that this is a 2 wheel
drive.
Thanks

Foul smell after using the AC
Hello everyone:
On our 2000 RX 300, when we use the AC for at least 5-10 minutes with
outside air vent turned off, and then turn it off, and then start the
fan on without using the AC, some really foul smell (I mean awful smell
..) comes out for some time. This has been happening ever since we
bought the car.
Earlier the service rep at the dealer didn’t know what it was all about
and even made us change the AC filter (and
of course, charged us for it).
After repeated inquiries a new service rep now tells me this is expected
due the the new kind of refrigerant (freon ?)
that every car manufacturer needs to use (due to govt epa regulations).
I normally don’t notice it as we don’t need to
use the AC as much in the Bay area, but on a particularly hot day this
is pretty bad odor.
Is this normal ? Are others also experiencing it ? Can I do anything
to reduce it, other than opening all the windows
for a short time.
Thanks

Carnauba wax that long lasting….
Hi All:
I’ve been using Meguiar’s wax for my Lexus for the past 6 years now,
the only complaint is that similiar to Zymol, the shine only last for
3 weeks. I have to rewax again to maintain the same condition.
I wonder if anyone is using any other brands of car wax that last
longer. I tried turtle wax and it was horrible.

RX330 – Choppy Shifting?
Looking for advice from RX330 owners:
My husband and I recently test drove an RX330. I drove the car first,
then my husband, with my husband’s turn behind the wheel being a bit
longer than mine. One of the things he commented on during the drive
was that the transmission shifts seemed to be a bit choppy. The
salesman explained that the transmission constantly is "learning" the
driver’s driving style, and that it eventually (after about 15-20
minutes) adapts its shifts to match the driving style of the driver.
I have also checked out some postings on some of the Lexus owners’
clubs forums, and saw one post about this, but it hasn’t really been
followed up on.
I’d be curious to read comments from any 330 owners as to how
noticeable they have found this to be. According to what the salesman
said, a difference might be noticeable not just if a different driver
has driven the car, but if the same driver’s style changes (i.e., you
begin to drive a bit more aggressively, etc.).
Any comments would be appreciated.
