Starter problem with 1996 ES300

Yesterday evening when I went to start my 1996 ES300 all I heard was a
whining noise.  I believe that this is a starter problem.

1)  Is this the noise that a starter problem would make?
2)  Is there anything that I can do to get it started so that I can get it
in for repairs?

Thank you,
Brian

Sudden Acceleration issue with ES330

Anyone out there having any issues with sudden forward acceleration with any
of the new lexus cars.
Sounds crazy, but I had a car shoot forward from a speed of less than 5mph
to above 20 without hitting the gas pedal?

Bluetooth phone in LS430

Does anyone know if there’s a way to enter "one touch dial" information
manually?  The only way I can get data into the car is by transmitting it
from my phone.  The problem with this is that I can’t modify the name that
appears on the one touch screen once it’s been transmitted, and what’s there
is not always descriptive enough.  (For example, if I’ve got a cell number
and home number for the same person, I can’t get two different labels
displayed on the car screen.)  I’ve searched the menus live on the car,
searched the manuals that came with the car, searched the internet, and have
come up dry.  I haven’t been to the dealer yet (car’s only got 3500 miles),
but they’ll be the next stop.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

1990 Lexus LS-400 Idling Problem.

This is Turtle.

I don’t post any here but i need a tip on what the problem is with this thing.
The Lexus LS-400 1990 runs like a charm, Does not miss, and works good but when
it idles it roames from 500 rpm to 1,000 rpm. It never misses at all but just
real smooth roams up and down very slow. I have cleaned the butter fly with
electric cleaner inside and the electrical head that attached to the choke
butter fly to make it idle up and down for cold mornings. No effect.

And yes i have a Mechanic working on it but it’s a small town and choices are
limited. No one here has a computor thing to attach to the car to get a read
out. There is a town about 60 miles away where they have all this stuff at
Walker Old and Lexus dealership in Alexandria , Louisiana . I need to know which
one of these parts is the problem. if it is the whole butter fly head , electric
head attaching to it, or what every that will cause this problem. cost is not
the problem but which part is the problem. I really did not want to change the
whole engine to get to the problem. New Air filter, Plugs, and wire have been
changed also while having the problemand no effect.

Now the problem started when i washed down the engine with a water hose while it
was running. yes I know Dumb but Hey I’m Me. It has been a week of running it
and everything should be dried out by now. I like this old car but should bu a
new one but you know how a fellow gets about something he likes.

Anybody have a ideal ?

Turtle

WTB: 1997 SC400 5-Speed – what to look for?

hi lexus lovers out there,

i own an 2003 LS430 and a 1993 LS400 and may get hold of a 1997 SC400
with 60000 miles just for fun driving. it is a 5-speed machine and it
seems the engine has 10HP more than first production years.

are the problems that can occure basically the same as for the LS400
or do i have to look for other specific points besides timing belt,
water pump, AC, servo steering, dashlights, radio system, rotors…?

ANY HELP is appreciated. here in europe you just CANT have enough
information about the SC.

thanks in advance,

george / Stuttgart

TSB 002-04 for whine/hum/droan noise on RX330

We just got our 04 RX330 fixed today.  There was a whine, droan, hum
noise when decelerating from around 45-50mph, most noticeable in 4th
gear (not overdrive on auto tranny).

Just wanted to let folks know if your VIN is before the following, you
might want to get the revised oil cooler tube sub-assembly installed.:
2WD – JTJGA31U#4#031105
4WD – JTJHA31U#4#059251

BTW, the TSB is not listed on the alldata site, but was in the Lexus
computer system.

Clunking noise when releasing brake pedal

Hi there,

My new ES330 sometime makes a clunk/thud noise at the front-end when I
lift my foot off the brake pedal to move forward after a complete
stop.  I searched this NG and found people were having similar
problems on their Tacoma trucks.  Could this so-called axle wrap
phenomenon occur on camry-based cars as well?  Thanks for your input.

2001 ES Homelink problem

We just moved from a place where I had a Genie door opener and I was able to
program the Homelink (1st button towards the window).  It worked great.  We
just moved to another home and I had a Lift Master garage door opener put in
and I have tried everything and cannot get it to take the code.  I have gone
in to the garage door opened and pressed the button and then got in my car
and put the opener about 3 inches away and pressed both buttons at the same
time and cannot get it to work.  Any ideas?

Thanks!
Russ
