After driving on the highway for 2 hrs at 120km/h and then slowing
down in a traffic jam for 30mins.  I noticed the temperate guage
needle slowly went to the red zone.  I pulled over right away and open
my hood to take a look to see whats wrong.  After opening the hood, i
notice both fans in the enigne are not running and the reserve engine
coolant was over flowing.  The next day i checked my car again and the
fan is still not working.  Does anyone else has this problem? or know
wuts wrong?

Lexus are to launch the IS2.2 Diesel next year in the UK. Does anyone know
if an automatic gearbox will be an option with this car?

The passenger side front window is going up slower and slower.
It looks to me like I need to lubricate the thing in the door/
window frame the glass goes up into, what do they call that?

Anyway, is there a preferred lubricant?  I was thinking just
a little WD40 sprayed in there.

Issue: Keeps killing Batteries.
Let it sit for a few weeks and it ruins the battery.
I put a ammeter in series with the battery cable and I have a small drain
when the car is off and I contribute that to computer, clock, etc.
BUT, it is only about 5 mA.
Is there an issue with these models killing batteries?
I’m getting aggravated and the dealer is out of the question.

I’m thinking of getting my windshield replaced on my ’99 RX300 — got dinged
by another 18-wheeler giving me matching cracks in my front glass…

Has anyone tried one of the so-called "mobile" windshield replacement
outfits? The ones that replace your glass while your car is parked at work
or at home? Any good/bad experiences to relate? Any info would be
appreciated…

After only 2 years, one of the rear brakelights in my 2003 RX 300
burnt out. According to the manual  it’s Bulb # 7443,  a 21/5 watt
Wedge Base Bulb. The manual also says to make an appointment with my
Lexus dealer to replace the bulb.  I have some questions

Do I really need to make an appointment with the Lexus dealer and
drive 70 miles roundtrip, a waste of 4 gallons of fuel and two hours
of driving just to replace a simple light bulb?

Is this bulb available in local auto parts stores (eg  Pep Boys,
Strauss, Auto Zone etc) and is it possible to replace the bulb myself?

Would my local Toyota dealer (about 1 mile away) have the bulb and
could they replace if it is not user replaceable?

I’m a little frustrated because the first bulb to burn out in my last
vehicle, a 96 Infiniti, burned out after 7 years!  Also, Infiniti
covered the lightbulbs under their 4 year 60,000 warranty. If I have
to take my RX300 to Lexus to replace this bulb, will it at least be
covered under warranty?

Hi everyone, my wife and I will be taking ownership of a 2001 ES300 later
this week.  It currently has only 7,500 miles on it so it looks and drives
like new.  I’ve tried sifting through a number of the posts here but haven’t
found anything to be concerned about.  I figured I’d just go ahead and ask,
is there anything I should look for or be concerned with in this vehicle?
Any problems that arise after say 20,000 miles that I may be able to take
care of now?   Any former or current owners of this model have anything good
or bad to say?  TIA!

I just noticed today that the drive light ‘D’ is not
lit when I have transmission in ‘drive’ mode.  All others,
P – Park, R – Reverse, N – Normal, L – low gear and 2 – 2nd gear
light up when shifted into those modes.

Any ideas ? should I be concerned ?
I had just taken the car for an oil-change at the dealership and
they had noted this in the invoice.  I noticed this only when I was
out of the dealership.

Note:  I am not talking about the O/D (overdrive) light here.
