91 ls400 electrical system problems…

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:40 pm

Anyone out there had electrical system problems with early Lexus’?  I had an
alternator replaced a few months ago, then the battery.  Thought my dying
battery problem was fixed but one morning she was deader than a doornail.
The alternator was an after market from Schucks.  Mechanic is telling me I
should put a Lexus alternator in.  Any ideas, other than bad alternator,
what might be draining my battery?

Thanks,
Tom

  1. The alternator is easy to check, if it’s not putting some good voltage out,
it WILL cause a problem with a weak battery sooner or later. Also check to
make sure you don’t have any excessive current drain from anything in the
car (including any stereo or security systems).

The aftermarket alternators are somewhat of a crapshoot, but like I said
above, it is a pretty simple check to see if it’s working correctly or not.

You should have your starter checked. That can drain a battery also.
