Share your SC300/SC400 Tire Experience

Hi All:

I owned a 97 SC400 and I have KUMHO ECSTA tires on it. Compare with my
RX330 Michelin, it’s got good traction control, but it is noisy and do
not have the ‘stick on the road’ feel.

I searched the group and there were random answers here and there. Not
good enough, I think.

Please share your experience… good, bad and ugly.

BR,

V.

What's With All the Spam

I noticed there’s a lot of unsavory spam on this newsgroup.  Isn’t there
anyone managing or supervising it.  This is supposed to be a Lexus group.
Why aren’t the spam posts promptly deleted?

IS300 2001 Bogs Down When Gas Pedal Floored

Have an IS300 that bogs down when the gas pedal is floored.   Seems
like the engine is making power but the car doesn’t seem to accelerate.
After about a second and half the car starts to accelerate.  Have had
the fuel injectors cleaned, spark plugs changed.  Wondering if anybody
knows what area I might look at?  Is there a passing gear that might
not be getting activated???  Thanks for any advice.

ES330 premium fuel

I own a  2005 ES330 with the infamous "transmission issue".
I have the most recent flash update and honestly do not find the car THAT
bad.
Yes…the lag is occasionally noticeable and inexcusable but I am dealing
with it…for now. (have the car for 3 months)

QUESTION IS: of the MANY posts I have read SOME state that higher octane
fuel will improve tranny performance NOTICEABLY.
Any comments on the reality or fallacy of this??

2002 ES300 Low Beam Bulb Replacement

Hi and Happy Holidays,

Replacing a low beam bulb in a 2002 ES300 appears to be
nontrivial.  I can get at the high beam easily but the low beam
is a puzzlement.  The manual merely suggests taking it to a
dealer.  Should I?  What is it about them that makes replacement
so difficult and expensive?

Thanks,
Gary

Navagation System

Does anyone know how to overide the GPS system in an ES 300 2002 so the
passenger can use it while the car is in motion? Thanks

RX300 Ashtray light

The other day while driving at night I wanted to put something in my
RX300′s ashtray and had difficulties finding it. I vaguely recally the
ashtray formerly having a dim green light that lit up when the hinged
lid was open or am I wrong? If it did, is there an easy way to replace
the bulb? (The Lexus manual seems to think that everything, even wiper
blades, should be only replaced by the Lexus dealer).

Or I could just wait until the 55,000 mile service and ask my Toyota
dealer to take care of it.

2001 ES300 questions…

I’m interested in purchasing a 2001 ES300 and I noticed that the one I
want to purchase has the CD changer in the glove compartment, but I’ve
read in most reviews that the CD changer’s in the dashboard. I also
noticed that it has has less weather trim. Am I missing something or is
this a ‘cheaper’ version?
My last question… I currently have a ’98 ES300 and I’d like to
‘upgrade’ it to this 2001 version for about $3K-$5K more.. Before I
decided on this I was thinking of repainting my car, fixing the stereo,
plus a few more other things.  From the ‘Features’ standpoint, assuming
that both are in excellent condition, is it worth trading and older one
for the newer one? Or should I just keep this one and fix it? I’m not
really interested in the 2002 model.

Thanks.
