For those who are interested in the upcoming GX470, it will be officially
posted on the Lexus website tomorrow (or give it a day or two.) It will be a
complete description of the vehicle like other models, not just a sneak
preview. Target sale date is Nov. 18th, just in time for the holiday season
sales.

On a side note, I have confirmed that the new 2003 4Runner will be based on
the Land Cruiser Cygnus / GX470. It will have a 6-cyl. engine as standard,
with V8 optional. I say 6-cyl. because I don't know which engine is going to
be used. The 3.4L may be abandoned, and the rumored 3.3 V6 isn't ready, so it
might come with the existing 3.0 V6 or the in-line 6. We'll see.

- Frank

The GX is definitely not based on the *existing* 4Runner platform as some had
speculate. It is sold as the Land Cruiser Cygnus in Japan right now. The GX
gets much better looking exterior sheet metal, but the interior is nearly
identical (except some luxury pieces such as wood panel placement.)

Your Lexus class is probably referring to the new redesigned 2003 4Runner.
Like you said only time will tell.

Since you are a Lexus tech, can you tell me the torque spec for the RX300
drive shaft flange bolts? I asked here a while ago, but no one answered.
Thanks.

- Frank

In article <9Ps99.148218$2p2.6721...@bin4.nnrp.aus1.giganews.com>,
oscar...@netzero.net says...

- Hide quoted text -- Show quoted text -

>Frank, I'm a Lexus technician.
