I've got a 97 LS400 with the integrated Lexus/Motorola phone. It is
not the flip phone kind, but the 3w model (yes, it's analog.) I was
able to get analog service from Alltel. They actually had a decent
plan that fits my needs perfectly. So I'm happy. BUT.......... I'm
looking for any instructions out there for the phone so I can use all
of the features. I've figured out how to work it hands free easily
enough, but for some of the features I guess I need the manual.

Anyone out that can help?

Thanks

Jeff
97 LS400

On Sat, 2 Jun 2001 07:54:23 -0500, "Duane" <DuaneS...@Thilmony.com>
wrote:

- Hide quoted text -- Show quoted text -
>I too am a new owner of a 98 LS400 with the infamous "integrated phone".
>Anyone actually use these, and with what carrier, etc? I would think
>someone who knows what they are doing could make an adapter that would let
>me swap that Motorola Microtac with my Startac... Anyone know anyone who
>does that?

>"new owner" <wdg@[204.52.135.1]> wrote in message
>news:ja6ghtst8lvt5vgav4betg3usg2a9dl1dq@4ax.com...
>> Well, I bought the '96 LS400 yesterday (43k miles and immaculate) and am
>> so far quite well pleased with the deal ($21k) in spite of the fact that
>> I've discovered that the integrated cell phone is non-functional. I had it
>> changed over to my name and put on a buddy plan to share minutes with my
>> existing phone, but alas it seems the instrument itself is kaput. Damn! -
>> and of course no recourse because I purchased from a private party.

>> It's the "Portable Plus" model. The advantage there of course is that it's
>> an honest-to-God phone that you can snap out of the holder and take with
>> you. Yes, it's one of the discontinued analog Motorola flip-phone models,
>> BUT I CAN STILL GET SERVICE!! - - I could that is, if the phone was
>> working.

>> I pulled it out and took it to a Motorola service shop today. They put it
>> on a diagnostic instrument and told me that the phone has a "bad logic
>> board" and it's a factory repair, costing $125. OK Fine, lets get it
>> fixed.

>> BZZZZT!!! You can't. The Motorola service shop cannot send it in to
>> Motorola; it has to go back & be serviced through the Lexus dealer. OK,
>> fine.

>> However, a call to the Lexus dealer later and I learn that no, Lexus
>> doesn't *fix* them either, but by golly they do replace them, and hey
>> buddy you're in luck because the parts dept. has one in stock. It's $490
>> and not covered by my 7-yr/100,000 mile "extra care" warranty.

>> I was all set to eat the $125 to get it repaired, but I think $490 is a
>> little steep to pay for a new analog phone.
