So don’t get the Z-rated tires when its time to replaced them. Nobody
really needs those extremely high-speed tires that they were designed
for anyways and they’re more expensive. As for 16" vs 17", I ‘d go for
the seventeen’s as they look cooler and fit the IS perfectly. The
sixteens looks too plain and small to be on a performace sedan.

a local dealership near my work place, a salesperson told me they never
have any IS300 with the factory 16"s.
I wonder how accurate this information is…
btw, the Lexus dealership I went to has a Infiniti dealership next to it.
I tested the G35, but the Lexus guy said we must be very serious in order to
test a IS300. One of the sales insisted that these two cars don’t fall into
the same class and told me that I shall not consider to compare them…
anyway still kind of disappointed that even a test drive is not offered.
which I can’t compare the power back to back with the G35 and IS300. But indeed
I had tested the IS300 before public release in 01′. The only difference I
couldn’t tell is when the IS300 is fully loaded with 5 passengers (included
driver).

I’m not sure you can get 45 series 17 inch tires that are not Z rated, but
maybe,
Mike
all the IS’s come standard with the 17′s the 16′s are an option

"But maybe" is right. I found these non-Z-rated tires on TireRack.com &
Tires.com. As you’ll noticed, there’s really no difference in prices
between Z vs non-Zrated’s:
Bridgestone Potenza RE910 P215/45TR-17 $110, Potenza RE950 P215/45HR-17
$136.
Pirelli Pzero System Direzionale 215/45YR-17 $175, P6000 215/45YR-17
$142.
Michelin Pilot XGT H4 215/45HR-17 $145.
Dunlop SP Sport 9000 215/45WR-17 $145.
Yokohama Avid H4 215/45HR-17 $110.
Sumitomo HTR Z II 215/45WR-17 $94.
Nankang NS1 215/45HR-17 $95.

Sure you can – the tire simply loses it’s Z speed rating. My wife’s Z3
has a plugged Goodyear F1 on it right now, as a matter of fact.
Whoever told you that just wanted to sell you a new tire.

actually the local service station told me that, they did not try and sell me a
tire, just refused to plug it, I found out later when I tryed to plug it myself
that the nail had gone through the sidewall as well so i had no choice anyway.
