Are you supposed to check transmission fluid with the engine idling in park
or neutral ? Where is the engine air filter?
Please Advise

In general, transmission fluid should be checked with the engine idling in
park.
The engine air filter is in the engine compartment, in the black plastic
housing behind the battery. The engine air filter housing has a black
rubber accordion hose that leads to the engine.
